Let the distance between A & B = X km
{X/(14+4)} + {(X/2)/(14-4)} =19
X=180 km

• 2.B)
Speed of boat in still water = 5X kmph
Speed of current = X kmph
Rate downstream = 6X kmph
Rate upstream = 4X kmph
According to question
2D/6X=(D+12)/4X
D=36 KM

• 3.A)
Let the speed of the stream is X km/ph & Distance is D
According to the question,
2D,/(6+X) =D/(6-X)
X=2

• 4.A)
X………Z……..Y
Let (XY)= A+15 & ZY=A km
Now ,
(A+15)/18 = A/12
A=30 km
So time taken to travel 30 km downstream = 30/18= 5/3 = 1 hours 40 minute

• 5.D)
Let the speed of the boat be X kmph
Then the speed of the current = X/4
Now downstream speed = X + X/4 = 5X/4
According to the question,
5X,/4 = 20/4
X=4 km/ph

• 6.E)
Let the speed of the man in still water be X kmph
Downstream speed = (X+3.5 ) kmph
Upstream speed= (X-3.5) kmph
According to question,

X=11.5 kmph

Let the speed of the swimmer be X km/ph in still water
Speed downstream will be (X+2)km/ph
Speed upstream will be (X-2) km/ph
According to the question,
(X+2)20/60= (X-2)120/60
X=2.8 km/ph

Downstream speed = 30/2 =15 km
Upstream sped = 30/6 = 5 km
Sped of the boat = (15+5)/2= 10 kmph

• 9.E)

Let the distance from Q to R be X km
P to R = X/5
Upstream speed = 16-4=12 km/hr
Downstream speed = 16+4= 20 km/hr
Now
(6X/5)*12) + X/(20)=7.5

Then,
X/(5-3) + X/(5+3)=7.5
